Plastics, Rams, Vibratables

Riverside Refractories produces a broad range of blast furnace, reheat furnace, and general mill use plastics, rams, and vibratables. Here’s a sample of these products:

  • ALACARB 68 SiC RAM is a tabular alumina based refractory containing silicon carbide and proprietary additives to increase the corrosion resistance and strength of the refractory in service. The refractory is designed for use in construction and maintenance of skimmer blocks and the linings of blast furnace troughs.
  • ALAPAK SiC is a plastic ramming material for blast furnace trough maintenance. A high performance product with excellent slag resistance, ALAPAK SiC can be used in troughs, runners, or tilting spouts.
  • RSR 1719 is a blend of refractory grains, clays, and carbon materials. This product was designed for taphole closure of small to medium size furnaces.
  • SC II is a silica enriched clay suitable for electric furnace bottoms and banks, and is compatible with acid linings.
  • SUPERBLACK is a high-silica, heat setting plastic used for maintenance of runners and for a blast furnace tap hole material. This product exhibits good slag resistance due to the silicious aggregate and carbon additions. It is very plastic and ideal for plugging tuyeres.
  • VIBEPAK 60 is a heat set product designed for applications requiring high strength and abrasion resistance. Typical uses are furnace hearths, ladle bottoms, and soaking pit bottoms. This product must be installed using mechanical vibration in order to achieve maximum density.
  • VIBEPAK 60-BF is a heat set product designed for applications requiring high strength and abrasion resistance. Typical uses are ladle bottoms and behind shapes in troughs. Mechanical vibration is recommended in order to achieve maximum density.
  • VIBEPAK 200 is a heat set dry vibratable refractory designed for blast furnace iron runners and trough contact and backup linings. The use of alumina grains with SiC additions gives this product excellent hot metal and slag resistance. The unique grain sizing provides high density, excellent hot strength, abrasion resistance and minimal thermal expansion. This product must be installed using mechanical vibration in order to achieve maximum density.
